how about a big bridal hairstyle?
Have you seen Teresa Giudice hair when she got married for the second time? Do you know her? If you are an avid fan of the Real Housewives franchise, you ‘d know exactly who she is. Anyway, she got married recently, and her hair was this big, extension filled crowning glory, with a tiara to top it off. Oh my gosh, I loved it! I’m usually not a big fan of very elaborate wedding hairstyles. If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know that I like to keep things simple, and classic. But it was just so different from what I’ve been seeing from brides lately, that I felt like “Ok, ok I actually love this.” Teresa’s family is Italian, so there you go. You know they love this type of hairstyles, right?
When I got married, I was originally going to put my hair up in a classic updo. My dress was a corset tube top, with a bolero. SO I kinda wanted to showcase the bolero by putting all my hair up. Anyway, like I said in my other blog about my own wedding, (read HERE.) my wedding wouldn’t have been a success without the help of all my friends. They did my makeup, hair, nails, décor, everything. One of my friends wanted to iron my bolero, because it was a little crumpled at the middle of the back. You know what happened? She somewhat burned a little part. It wasn’t all brown and torn apart, it just left a mark, you know the mark of the edge of the iron. I was in the shower when it happened, so when I got out I saw the look on her face. It was like a dog when you catch it doing something bad. The guilt was plastered all over my friend’s face. I immediately said, “What did you do?” because I knew she did something. When she showed me, I asked her to leave and that was the last time I saw her again…
JUST KIDDING! OF course not. If I was bridezilla there would've been a big fight, but as I said, I was just chill during the whole thing. They’ve helped me enough already. So my friend suggested that we just do a half updo for my hair, so that the “burnt” part of the bolero will be covered. It worked. I actually liked my hair better than the original plan.
Anyway, let’s go back to Teresa Guidice’s wedding hairstyle. You know what it reminds me of? Old Hollywood weddings. Something along the lines of Elvis and Priscilla. I think maybe that’s the main reason why I immediately loved it. It reminded me of Priscilla’s hairstyle during the early days of her marriage to Elvis Presley, and I am obsessed with .both of them. I think one of the reasons why it worked on Teresa is because, like I said earlier, it’s so unique, not because it wasn’t done before, but because nobody has done it again in such a long time, especially in Hollywood. I mean, not that big! Hers is huge! And if you watch Real Housewives, you know she’s the type of person who always wants it big. It’s so her, that’s why I loved it. I read in the news that her whole look is very personal, there were so many added details that meant so much to her, which is another good thing.
One of the wedding hairstyle trends for 2022 was a messy hair bun. I think that one works on millennials or with the younger generation. If someone 50 and above does something like that, it might just look plain messy. LOL. But then again, it depends on a lot of factors, like your wedding dress, the venue and the overall theme of the wedding. Though it’s really quite hard to depend on the wedding dress for a big hairstyle, because although goes very well with an elaborate, studded and intricate wedding dress, I think it it only works if it the dress is form fitting? Personally, I don’t want to see a big ball gown and a big hairstyle. I want to see a little bit of contrast with the dress and the hair.
If you want to go for a big wedding hairstyle like that of Teresa's, make sure to test it out first together with your gown to see the overall effect, because it might not look or feel the same with the dress and all the other accessories that you’ll be wearing at he wedding.
Speaking of accessories, do you need a tiara? Well, you know what they say, right ?go big or go home. SO yes, you can wear a tiara if you want to. Another option is, a pearl headband, which is very popular at the moment.
Well, I think that big wedding hairstyles are just what we need after the 2 year pandemic that halted everything. You know, come back with a bang!
